NEFDC invites proposals for concurrent workshops, teaching tips, and poster sessions for our Spring Conference on May 21, 2010. The conference theme is “Teaching for Learning”. The Program Committee seeks proposals that reflect the best in the research and practice of college teaching for learning for faculty and higher education professionals in New England.
Submissions may address all areas of teaching and learning, but we hope to inspire a number of conference theme-related proposals. Here are a few general suggestions related to the conference theme:
- Engaging students in and beyond the classroom
- Designing authentic assignments and assessments for learning
- Promoting life-long learning
- Creating learning communities
- Developing future faculty
Proposals will be considered for teaching tips (25 minutes), interactive sessions (55 minutes), workshops (90 minutes) or poster presentations. Interactive sessions and workshops should encourage participant involvement through, for example, case studies, discussion groups, role playing, etc. Teaching Tips are designed as topical presentations. Posters will be displayed all day and allow presenters to highlight a particular program or initiative.
